Our Range of Machine Guarding Products

MAGNASAFE is a complete range of non-contact magnetically operated switches for use in safety applications. Constructed using special reed switches, encapsulated into ABS housings, these switches are tested to perform up to 1,000,000 operations at full load.
The MAGNASAFE non-contact switches are easy to fit and the 10mm+ switching distance ensures tolerance to misalignment and gate wear. They are ideal for wet, dusty, oily environments and in areas where hygiene is important.

The HE-Series is a coded magnetic safety system. Fully encapsulated solid state safety switches with a slim-line control unit. Combining the ease of use and maintenance of a simple magnetic safety switch, with the improved security, performance levels and indication of Mechan’s electronic switching. Available in ABS or 316 Stainless Steel, the HE switches withstand vibration, wash down and are ideal for use in the food processing / filling and packing industries as well as many other non-locking machine guard applications.

The Mechan S-TYPE switches are electronically operated standalone safety switches designed to work with any safety relay. Based on the Mechan top of the range F-Series electronics, the S-Type safety switches uses Mechan’s unique frequency operated switching system. This ensures only the Mechan S-Type actuator can operate the switch stopping unauthorised overriding of the safety switches. Ideal for replacing standard magnetic safety switches where additional security / reliability and indication at the switch is required.

The RSS series safety switches applies radio frequency identification technology (RFID) and provides additional security with up to 4 billion unique codes. The RSS safety switches can achieve type 4 high level coding according to EN 14119 safety standard.
These safety switches are available in 5 sizes, the RDNK, RSSO, RSSK, RSSR and RSSG and are rated to IP69K for use in wet or dusty environments. Ideal for replacing standard magnetic safety switches where additional security / reliability and indication at the switch is required.

The O-Type range combines 40+ years of experience designing and manufacturing machine guard safety switches with the latest in safety technology. There OSSD outputs means 30off O-Type switches can be connected in series maintaining PL-e. Available with two coding options; coded-magnetic and high-coded RFID suitable for all applications where guard locking is not required.
External Device Monitoring (EDM) is available on advanced versions, eliminating the need for a safety controller whilst maintaining the highest level of functional safety.

The DIN rail mounting safety control unit can monitor up to 30 Mechan Safety Switches and/or Emergency Stop Buttons in one system. The electronic non-contact safety switches are fully encapsulated, easy to install and tolerant to misalignment.
Together the switches and control module provide a safety system capable of meeting the requirements CAT 4 SIL 3 PL-e that can be used in the harshest environments, providing long term reliability.

MLG-Series light curtains are through-beam photo-electric machine guarding devices, designed to protect operators working at or near dangerous machinery, suitable for use in SIL3 IEC EN 61508:2010, EN 62061:2005 & PL-e ISO 13849-1:2015 installations.

The SRL-Series are industry standard safety relays designed to cater for all applications. Mechan Controls over the years has developed an enviable reputation when it comes to machine guard safety switches. Due to popular demand, the SRL-Series came to life in 2010 and continues to become a more frequent seller year on year.

The EM-SERIES features an EM1 master control unit and extender modules which are DIN rail mounted and connected together by the integral 6-way connector strap. Systems can be assembled to monitors up to 30 inputs (emergency stops or any device with a 2 normally closed output). The EM1 features LED's for power, run and fault as well as guard status indication for easy operation. The EM1 also features both automatic and manual-monitored reset and internal and external relay monitoring circuit. This product is suitable for anyone looking for a CAT4, SIL3, PLe safety system that does not require programming.

The GM-SERIES features a GM1 master control unit and extender modules which are DIN rail mounted and connected together by the integral 6-way connector strap. Systems can be assembled to monitors up to 20 inputs (MLG light curtains or OSSD Switches). The GM1 features LED's for power, run and fault as well as guard status indication and OSSD indication for easy operation. The GM1 also features both automatic and manual-monitored reset and internal and external relay monitoring circuit. This product is suitable for anyone looking for a CAT4, SIL3, PLe safety system that does not require programming.

The Proton advance solenoid interlock has been designed for use on machines where hazardous conditions persist even after the machine has been switched off. The robust design and heavy-duty solenoid can withstand up to 2000N hold force and energise under a lateral load. The internal specifications meet the requirements for CAT4, SIL3 and has been designed to maintain PL-e even when connected in series.

With the growing demand for simple, efficient and yet more secure safety systems, the ISIS system offers the ideal solution. A tamper resistant non-contact safety switch system, suitable for use in most types of machine guarding applications where guard locking is not required. The ISIS safety switches available in both ABS or 316 grade stainless steel.
Tested and approved by TUV to CAT 3 SIL 3 PLe performance the ISIS system is also UL approved for the USA.

CODEX™ is a modular, frequency operated safety system, designed for use in machine guarding applications where locking is not required. The fully electronic safety switches can be supplied with either the ‘generic coding’ (i.e. each switch the same) or with ‘unique coding’ where there is up to 500,000 individual codes.
The unique code option is especially useful in areas where it is important to ensure no-one defeats the system by use of spare actuators, or as electronic keys for access to controlled areas.

Mechan safety control units have been monitoring 1000's of Mechan electronic safety switches of over 40 years. Proving to be safe, reliable and easy to install, the MPX range, first introduced in the 1980's, and still in operation in many parts of the world.
The MPX control units are available in chassis mount or 35mm DIN rail mount format for installation into existing controls and work with the F-Series safety switches (F-Type, B-Type, S-Type, C-Type and Dinky)
